Pros and cons of switching to tubeless with Barkeeper Pro
Pros of using tubeless sealant:
- Punctures are sealed in no-time, preventing flats and minimizing downtime.
- Allows you to run lower tire pressures, which allows for better traction, especially on rough terrain or off-road conditions.
- Tubeless setups eliminate the need for an inner tube, reducing the overall weight of the wheel, improving performance.
- Lower tire pressures also provide a smoother ride by absorbing more vibrations, improving comfort.
- Quality sealants, like the Barkeeper Pro, can remain effective for a long time, reducing the need for frequent reapplication.
Cons of using tubeless sealant:
- Installing tubeless tires can be more difficult compared to traditional tubed tires. It requires tubeless ready wheels and sometimes a compressor or pump with a chamber.
- Working with sealant can be a bit messy during installation or when replacing tires.
In summary: a tubeless setup with Barkeeper Pro is a great choice for cyclists looking to reduce flats and improve performance, but can have a slightly more complicated setup.
The innovative Hi-Fibre formula
The formula contains microscopic fibers that spread quickly throughout the inside of the tire. These fibers are designed to adhere to the edges of a puncture or hole. When a puncture occurs, the fibers immediately fill the hole and create a tight seal. Sealing the puncture happens in less than 0,5 seconds, preventing any loss of pressure. Barkeeper Pro remains effective in the tire and can seal small leaks for an extended period, even with variations in temperature and humidity.
The synthetic latex in the formula helps bind the fibers and ensures that the sealant adheres well to the rubber of the tire, improving overall performance. The Hi-Fibre formula is suitable for both road and off-road applications, making it an ideal choice for various riding conditions.
These properties provide a reliable solution for cyclists who prioritize speed and durability.

How to use Barkeeper Pro step-by-step
Preparation
Make sure your tires and rims are tubeless-ready. This means that your rims and tires are suitable for riding without an inner tube. Also, check that your rims and tires have no damage or cracks that could prevent the Barkeeper Pro tubeless sealant from working properly.
Make sure that your rim tape is not folded anywhere, is not too old, and that there is no air trapped underneath. If the tape is damaged, apply some fresh Barkeeper Tubeless Tape.
After that, you can install the tubeless valve, making sure to choose the correct height for your rim. Use our Barkeeper Tubeless Valve kit.
Step 1:
Install the tire onto the rim
Mount the tire onto your rim. Make sure that the tire is fully seated around the rim on at least one side! You can leave the other side slightly loose So that you can pour the sealant into your tire through this opening. Shake Barkeeper Pro well before pouring it into the tire.
You can also choose to inject Barkeeper Pro through a syringe into the valve. However, be aware that this method can be a bit more challenging to work with, as the syringe or your valve may clog quickly, thanks to the fast-acting sealing formula. Using a syringe allows you to be more precise in determining the amount you need for your tire.
Step 2:
Inflate the tire
Ensure that the tire is fully seated on the rim and that no air can escape.
Use a compressor or a powerful pump to quickly inflate the tire so that it seats properly on the rim. You can hear this as the tire literally pops into the rim. When the tire is properly inflated, it allows the Barkeeper Pro tubeless sealant to distribute evenly throughout the tire.
Step 3:
Aftercare
If you've spilled some sealant and want to clean it up easily, you can use our Wipe-Out for this.
If everything looks good, you can put the wheel back on your bike and enjoy a wonderful ride!
Maintaining tubeless sealant
Although Barkeeper Pro tubeless sealant takes a long time to dry out, it’s still important to check it every few months. Make sure there’s still enough sealant in the tires and check for any sharp objects that may be lodged in the tire.
Add extra Barkeeper Pro if needed. This can be done through the valve (with the core removed) or by slightly loosening the tire and pouring the sealant directly into the tire.
Also, check if your valve is clogged with dried sealant. If necessary, you can clean the valve by removing the core and flushing it with water or blowing air through it.
If the sealant has dried out, you can simply pour new Barkeeper Pro into the tire without removing the old sealant.
