Cycling shoes are one of the most important parts of our gear. They provide us with the optimum transfer of all those watts to the drivetrain. Investing in a good pair of shoes is one of the best upgrades you can make. Unfortunately, your fancy new ‘kicks’ can get really dirty and look horrible. Especially after a ride in wet conditions or if they are our favorite color; white. So, how to clean your (white) cycling shoes?

What do you need to clean your cycling shoes?

To give your cycling shoes a proper clean, you need the following things;

How to clean your cycling shoes!

Step 1: Brush the dirt off

Brush of any coarse dirt like sand or mud. If you don’t have a brush handy, you can often just use your hand to softly brush away the dirt. It is important to do this first, to avoid ‘sanding’ your shoes with the sand and mud.

If your shoes are still wet, let them dry first. It is much easier to remove sand and mud when dry.

Step 2: Spray your shoes with Dirt Destroy

Spray your shoes with the foam cleaner and wait for 10 seconds or so. Don’t be too sparse, a nice layer will allow it to work the dirt and stains loose.

Step 3: Wipe

Using the cloth, gently wipe the dirt off the shoe. If you find that there is still dirt on the shoe after wiping, repeat step 2 before wiping again.

Sometimes a stain is more tenacious and requires some careful scrubbing with the cloth. Always be careful not to scrub so hard that you damage the shoe.

Step 4: Dry

Let your shoes dry completely. Because you used the foam cleaner and no water, this should be quick.

Step 5 (optional): Fresh shoes

If your shoes have started to smell, use a shoe deodorant to get rid of the odor. Our Funky Feet will get rid of the foul smell and absorb the moisture that caused it, so the smell does not return.

Now your shoes should be all fresh and ready for your next ride! Want more useful articles like this one; subscribe to our newsletter and be the first to know about our new articles, not to mention the special 10% discount code you will receive.
