Welcome to the Dynamic ambassadors family! Julia is a well known face at Dynamic and we’re very happy to start this adventure!
We asked Julia some introduction questions, so we all get to know her a little bit better!
Who are you and in which cycling disciplines are you active?
My name is Julia Schuler. I’m 22 years old, currently writing my bachelor thesis in sports science at the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz, and I compete (irregularly) for Eintracht Frankfurt Triathlon.
What do you do besides cycling?
Due to injury, I unfortunately don’t get to swim as regularly as I used to, but I do incorporate regular running sessions into my daily training routine. Away from the more competitive sports, I like to get together with friends to play volleyball, go bouldering, stand up paddling or just have a cookout.
Do you have goals for 2022?
At the moment I am very focused on my bachelor thesis and would like to finish it in the best possible way before taking on more challenges. However, as soon as time allows again, I would like to tackle some short trips this year – for example, a visit to Paris-Roubaix.
Best cycling memory
Of course I could mention my trip to the French Alps last year, or participating in the Strade Bianche Gran Fondo – but for me it’s any group rides. Meeting new people who share the same passion, exchanging ideas and experiences all over the world – that’s what motivates me to get on my bike.
Where do you cycle? Do you have some tips for our followers?
Geographically, I feel very fortunate. My home region offers some climbs, as well as a more undulating profile, so there is always enough variety guaranteed between vineyards and forests.
How did you get into cycling?
At the age of 14 I came from swimming to triathlon and from the beginning I was not exactly clumsy on the bike. Cycling quickly became my favorite discipline and I have remained true to this love to this day. And I sometimes like to change my road bike for my gravel bike or fully.
Do you have a secret/tip for bike maintenance?
Wash your bike! Even if you don’t feel like it after a 150 km ride – you’ll be happy to have a clean bike before the next ride. (And I think my bike is happy too.)
What are your favorite Dynamic products (an explanation of why you like them is always good)?
Definitely Slick Wax. Previously I had always used oil and my chain looked like it. Now I’m always the one with the shiniest chain on group rides.
